Today
marks the 150th anniversary of Edith Wharton’s birth. If you’re a Wharton fan
in New York City, you may went to head to the Center for Fiction on Thursday,
January 26th for a marathon reading of the The House of Mirth. Readers will include Jennifer Egan, Roxana Robinson, Hilma Wolitzer, Sigrid Nunez, Lily Tuck, Jayne Anne
Phillips, Jane Ciabattari, Robb Forman Dew, Rachel Hadas, Mary Morris, Anne
Landsman, Elissa Schappell, Helen Schulman, Leora Skolkin-Smith, Dinitia Smith,
Terese Svoboda, Rachel Cline, Kathryn Harrison, Alice Mattison, Lynne
Tillman, and Mary Morris. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Mount, Wharton’s
home in Lenox, Massachusetts. You can
